BACTERIA AND BIOAUGMENTATION EXPLAINED

The bacteria collect together in a biomass on the inside walls of the pipes and tanks through which the wastewater flows or is stored. The bacteria produce enzymes (natural catalysts) which break down the compounds such as Fats, Oils and Greases (FOG) and some other carbon based compounds, or change the compounds which contain excess nitrogen (through a process known as Nitrification/Denitrification) so that the nitrogen is safely released into the air. The other end products are the perfectly harmless CO2 and H2O.

It’s what Mother Nature would do with the wastewater if she had space and time. Unfortunately, most wastewater treatment plants don’t have the space and the wastewater travels through them too quickly for the naturally occurring bacteria to produce enough enzymes. The naturally occurring biomass needs help. It needs adding to. It requires bioaugmentation.

Bio-Systems’ bacteria are safe

None of the organisms found in our products are genetically engineered or pathogenic for animals, plants, or humans. No incidence of adverse health effects related to the use of our products or their by-products has ever been reported. The micro-organisms pose no danger to skin, clothing, or equipment. If spilled, the micro-organisms can be wiped up. If the products come in contact with the skin, they can simply be washed off.

Our products are cultured and manufactured to the highest quality. Bio-Systems’ exact formulations and types of bacteria used are held as proprietary information. Our products are prepared under specific manufacturing guidelines subject to batch and lot control. Each product lot must also pass stringent quality control tests, including tests for the presence of Salmonella, Shigella, and Coliform bacteria. MSDS information sheets are available on request.
