RECOMMENDED PRODUCT ENBAC® B220RED
This pump station has a wetwell with a capacity of 25,000 litres. It receives domestic sewage from local homes. The pump was not working, so the effluent began to overflow from the wetwell, out into the adjacent marsh. This marsh is an established environmentally sensitive wetland – an important home to local wildlife, including birds and endangered species of frogs.
The marsh is also popular with local residents and dog walkers who soon complained of the strong sewage odour and the unpleasant solids floating in the water.
Our Distributor in South Africa was called and attended the area. He found strong odours and unwelcome solids. He dosed EnBac® B220Red into the feeder canal before the wetwell. One sachet released the contents immediately – the other released its contents more slowly, ensuring a steady distribution of bacteria into the flow of water. He also walked along the bank of the wetland and threw a 250gm sachet of EnBac® B220Red into the water, every 5 metres or so.
In order to help suppress the odours, he also threw in one litre of diluted L2100 every 5 metres.
Within eight hours, the water had turned from having the appearance of “mushroom soup”, to being clear enough to see the reeds below the water. The offensive odour was gone. Our Distributor continued to dose EnBac® B220Red approximately every eight hours until the pump was restored to working use.
